Wonderful is the power of tobacco in safe-guarding smokers from infection! A lady in writing to the Auckland "Star” related, how during the terrible epidemic of influenza in 1!)18, she volunteered to help nurse the Auckland sick. and. with her assistants tended patients innumerable iii their own homes. The sole precaution observed by these ladies l>efore entering a sick room was to smoke a cigarette. Not one of them contracted the malady! Also out of the many drivers of ambulances conveying patients only four were affected and of those four three were non-smokers! Of course the tobacco used for disinfecting juirposes should be good. So. of course, should the tobacco used by ordinary smokers who value their health. The hest tobaccos are the New Zealand toasted ones. Toasting absorbs tile nicotine, and you can smoke them not only with the keenest, enjoyment but with absolute safety. There are only four brands of toasted: Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Itiverhead Gold, Cavendish, and Cut Plug No. lO (BUllshead). Of course, there are imitations. Every goiod thing is imitated. Beware!
