BRANDING OF MEAT

REGULATIONS IN BRITAIN (Aust. and N-Z. Cable) London, February 27 Mr W. E. Elliot (Minister of Agriculture), who receive 1 two deputations of importers in protest, is expected shortly to announce his decision on the meat marking recommendations. Australian circles apparently feel that the recommendations will be adopted, at any rate partially. They also anticipate that disfigurement of the meat, particularly mutton, will temporarily affect sales, as even after cooking the marks of the country of origin will still he clearly apparent on the principal joints, though they will be less noticeable on beef.
