Yesterday’s Sitting I, ABO UK AMENDMENT NO-CON FI DUNCE MOTION DEBATE CONTINUED (Per Press Association) Wellington. September 27 Exchange, unemployment, and the monetary system were among the subjects on which was based a no-con-fidence amendment to the Address-in-i’ eply moved by tlie Leader of tbe Opposition, Mr H. E. Holland, in th© House this afternoon. THE ATTACK Mr Holland attacked tbe administration of the- Government, more particularly tbe policy it had adopted in dealing with the present economic crisis. He contended there was no reason why any person fti New Zealand should go without the necessaries of life. .So far as the high exchange was concerned, he alleged that the only people "h 0 had benefited were those who wen* mortgage free or had hypothecated their income. THE DEFENCE Mr Holland was followed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon J. A. Yeung, who declared that in comparison with other countries New Zealand had reason to be proud of the * steps taken to overcome poverty and distress.
