PRISONERS RECAPTURED
SPOTTED BY MILKMAN IN A SUBURBAN STREET (Per Press Association). Auckland, September 15 The two prisoners, Harris O'Neill, 4U, and George Hayward, 25. who escaped from the bakehouse at Mount Eden gaol early on Monday morning were recaptured this morning in a street in Epsom. At 9.40 o’clock a milkman recognised the two men. who "ere walking separately on different sides of the road, and telephoned the police. A sergeant and a constable bunded to the street hi a car and drew up between the men and the sergeant seized one and the constable the other. Both denied tlioir identity and gave other names, but the sergeant told them he had no doubt. They were taken to the Police Court and remanded on charges of escaping from lawful custody. When arrested the men "ere sauntering along in the sun. Both wore blue overcoats and other non-prison clothes. One had boots several sizes too large. They appeared to be tired and evidently had been much expose 1 to th© weather since their escape.
