The Minister of Commerce, M Louis Sene, in an important speech, proclaimed the Government’s determination to remain on the gold standard. and said the plan for the necessary budgetary adjustment to enable it to do so was now lieing prepared. M. Serve* revealed that commercial negotiations already had been begun for trade* rapprochements with other gold standard countries.
