IN A HA LF AI IL F. ITALIAN WINS EVENT (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) Tulin, September 9 BeealU of Italy defeated Lovelock of New Zealand, by five yards in thefinal of the 1500 Metres. The time was 3 minutes 4f) 1-5 seconds, equalling Ladoumegue’s world record. The Beigalli-Lovelock duel aroused tremendous interest at Turin. The Italian set a terrific pace dropping all except Lovelock. The pair at half way were leading the other by 60 yards. Becalli thrice attempted to drop the New Zealander, who responded gamely. Beceali in the final sprint, won the finest race of his career. He finished strongly and afterwards embraced' and kissed Lovelock repeatedly. Becalli won the 1500 metres event at the Omlypic Games at Bos Angeles last year.
