Postmaster-Gen-eral, to-day tendered his resignation as a mem tier of the Lyons Ministry and it was accepted. In a brief statement of his reasons. Mr. Fenton said that the general disagreement with tlie Cabinet on tariff I»oliey led him lo desire to be free to vote as he thought best on each tariff item. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, expressed deep regret at Mr. Fenton’s action, especially because of their relations., politically and otherwise. had been hitherto most cordial. It was Mr. Fenton who took the steps which led to the formation of the present Government and later to tlie defeat of the Lang Government. “In fact.*’ added Mr. Lyons, “the whole series of events culminating in the present favourable position of the country is directly traceable to his courageous act in combining with a few colleagues ami breaking away from the Scullin Government.”
