MAHORA’S INJURY It. is reported from Dannevirke that Mahora, winner of last year's Whyte Handicap at- Trentham, is still in a bod way from the injuries ho received when he fell in a flat race at Hastings last June. He wrenched both hind fetlock joints badly and has been under treatment ever since. Both joints are still enlarged, and lie will need a long spell before undergoing another preparation. RELATED TO KARAPOTI According to a northern report, it is probable that the two year old half-brother by Acre to Karapoti, of whom high hopes have been held, will have to be destroyed. While being broken in the. youngster fell heavily, evidently sustaining concussio f which seems to have affected the nerves controlling the eyes. The two year old is a beautiful colt, and he was regarded as astrong possibility for the highest classic honours. Mr Martin Tims, his breeder and owner, has some consolation in the possession of a fine stamp of two year old colt, a brother to To Kara. One of the best looking two year

seen out fur some time, he is regarded as a youngster of distinct promise, and one full worthy of following in the footsteps of his illustrious relation. NOTES AND COMMENTS Silver Scorn covered a mile at Riccarton on Saturday in i-4i 4-5-I he A.J.C. Derby winner Peter Pan is not engaged in the Victorian Derby. The weights for the C.J.C. Stewards Handicap are due to a'ppear on October iS. At his i ij til attempt J- K. Pike won his first A.J.C. Kpsom Handicap on Chatham last week. D. O’Connor registered a fine performance at Oainaru on Saturday when he rode four winners and a third out of five mounts. Cornediennt, the dam of High Comedy and Star Artist, has a filly foal to Whirlwind, and is visiting: Hunting- Song. Silver Streak who won at the Kurow meeting, isj a full brother to Silver Coot and a half-brother to Fulmar. Cricket Bat bruised a foot recently, and as a result he has not done a great deal of work during the last few days. Legality, the dam of Bambury, who has a yearling colt by Whrilwind, has thrown another colt by the same sire, and is on a visit to Chief Ruler. The three year old filly Gold t rail was a runner in the Taradale Highweiglit at Napier. This daughter of Chief Ruler and Pure Gold has furnished nicely and should pay her way in the near future. Nightmarcli is the most, notable defection from this year's New Zealand Cup as he was not badly handicapped at 9*i- on past performances. Possibly the Victorian Racing Club’s November meeting is his objective. Trainer J. M. Cameron was present at Napier to superintend the saddling of Hunting Cry and Gold Trail. Cameron originally intended going to Australia again, but lias now altered his plans, and in tlio meantime will race a team in New Zealand. Looking remarkably well Courageous registered his best performance to win by several lengths at Napier on Saturday. Now trained by W. Corlett at Hastings, this son of Thurnham will only have to keep right' to w in again before long. T. Lloyd’s team is training on well at Riccarton, and Dr. M. G. Louisson’s colours should be carried

with distinction by more than one horfco before the spring meetings are disposed of. file Cup candidate Gay Crest is in excellent health and he should race well at Trentham. -Adelphi, Tout le Mond and the two year old Silvox will be racing at the Dunedin meeting.
