A Treasury statement issued today reveals an increase of more than 3000 million dollars in the public debt since September 30. 1931. The public debt is now 19.740 million dollars.. The deficit for the first quarter of t.'io current fiscal year is 401 million dollars .compared with 388 million dollars Tor the first quarter of 1931.
