MURDER CHARGE
A GIRL AND YOUTH DROWNED TX A RIVER COMPANION ARRESTED (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) Adelaide. October 3. Two young people were drowned in the Torreiloc River. They were Ethel Wright, aged 17, and Ja* Ijevere, aged 20. The bodies have berm, recovered. The police later arrested Norman Newell, charging him with murder. Ho iv;a s remanded. The story related in tlie Police Court to-day was that Misis Waiglit, Levere, Newell and other & were out boating. Newell objected to Miss Wright paying attention to other voting men and threatened to i'P her in the water. She was alleged to have defied him and be forthwith so ft was stated, bundled heir into ti'ie river, where she was drowned. Lcvero lost his life in attempting to save her Newell gave himself up. 'saying that lie had lost hi s temper. Four months ago Newell wag found On his own wife’s grave suffering:, from poison, but. recovered. Bis bad committed su.iyide by taking poison.
