VERDICT OF SUICIDE A REMARKABLE CASE Per Press Association. Dunedin, October 4. A police Constable John Simpson, single, 28. was found dead in the p lice barracks last night, shot through the mouth. The Coroner’s verdict was that death wa s due t<> "a buiVe' wound, self inflicted. Evidence showed that deceased was a capable, trustworthy and popular officer, whose wonted clicerincss was observed even as late as yesterday a iter noon I'n December last deceased while arresting a man was struck on the head with a bottle. Rut the medical evidence scouted the idem-of mental injury and the Coroner commented on the suicide as tragic and inexplicable’ Deceased was a native of England ami has no known relatives in New Zealand.
