AUSTRALIAN GIRL RESCUED
News lias reached Sydney of the rescue of an Australian girl from a life of squalor and cruelty in a Chinese village in Sbekki.
The girl, who was a native of Townsville married a young Chinese and the couple went to China where tlie girl found that her husband was already married to a f’hinese. She was obliged to live in a filthy hut and live tlie life of a coolie woman. She gave birth to a child, which was taken from her by the Chinese wife. A party of Australians attached to the army at Hong Kong together with Salvation Army officers, proceeded to the village and rescued the gill, who is now on her way back to Australia.
