A smartly attired girl, after finishing lunch at a fashionable Sydney restaurant, without rising from the table lit a cigarette. Seated opposite was an elderly grey-haired lady who looked finite shocked. .Tust then the girl’s escort, was called to the ’phone and the old lady addressing the young one said : “My dear, wiiat would your mother say if she could see you smoking?” The girl laughed: "Oh” she replied, “mother wouldn’t mind. Smokes any amount herself.” The old lady sighed. Perhaps s.he was thinking of the uubridgalde gap ’twist Victorian days and 193 L But really smoking is quite alright for either sex, provided the tobacco is above reproach. Alas! it so often isn’t! Take the American tobaccos and what do you find? Practically all of them overloaded with nicotine. Bad for the health ? Of course! Destructive. Now there’s hardly any nicotine in our N.Z. Toasted.
