CUTTING WAGES
EFFORTS TO THAW CONTRACTS' Chicago, February 13. A total of 125,000 Chicago building trade mechanics have volunteered tc accept a cut in union pay for one year, starting on Alarcli 1, with the idea of inducing the start of big construction contracts now at a standstill. It is estimated that £30.000,000 woyth of new construction. lias been postponed in the last two years because of high costs, and the difficulty of finance.
