DRASTIC ECONOMICS BY JUSTICE DEBAR TM ENT Economies necessitating the -rurtailemnt of sittings of the Supremo Court and the closing of the Magistrate's Courts in certain country districts have been decided upon h v tin Department of Justice. in the South Island, WestporT, Hokitika, and Oamaru are this year omitted from the list of sittings of the Supreme Court. Hokitika, eases, it: is expected, will )be heard at Greymoui h : Westport cases at Creymouth or Nelson; and Oamaru oases probably at Dunedin. Simila.r economies are being made in, the North Island. The Magistrate's Courts a,t Oxford, Little River arul Ra.kaiar—in the North Canterbury district—will he closed from the end of this month. These are only three of a. considerable number of Courts which are being closed throughout New Zealand.
