BUILDING OF SHIPS
POSTPONEMENT POSSIBLE. The London Shipping World says it understands that the Admiralty, under pressure from the Treasury, is reconsidering* its draft shipbuilding* programme for 1032-33, with a view to the postponement of certain work. This would increase unemployment for many firms and unless sufficient orders are soon forthcoming they must close down their works, leaving* Britain less capable of producing naval armaments than America, France or Italy. Experts assert that the strength of the British fleet, relative to other leading navies, is lower than at any time since the Spanish Armada.
