Mr. Devereaux’s Report ADVANCE IX SVO.UIIKDS ALSO IX CBOSBBKEDS CAust. and N- Z. Cablet I.onion. Nov. 20. Air. W. I’. Devereaux, the Australian reiH'esentative on the Wool Council. reports:—Although at the opening of Ihe I.ondon sales the advance in greasy merinos was less than anticipated, the advance in scoured and crossbreds reached expectations. FINANCES AXI> TARIFFS Reports from Bradford indicate considerable machinery activity, but most sections of the market are rather quiet. There is, very little new business in merino tops, with easier prices for liner descriptions. The general financial position is acting as a depressing influence, also the retaliatory tariff action being taken, or strongly advocated, against Britain.”
