INFANT DIES
AFTER <W ALLOWING PILLS GIVEN BOTTLE TO PI AY W ITH Per Press Association. Gisborne. November 30. A -sad 'occurrence was rcvc-tled at the inquest to-day 011 the death of a nine months old child, Peter Denton, who had been boarded out to Ah-s Lister who. is licensed under the tin Child welfare Act. All’s Lister gave evidence that on Sunday the child wag crying- while witness and her friends were having *_ea and she gave him a. bottle of Easton's syrup pills to play with. The pills wore in a bottle with a screw toji arid witness said she tightened the screw top. Boon after she s.nw pills lying on the floor near the baby. Tlie child was rushed to hospital but died ten minutes after admission. Medical evidence wau given that each pill contained one-sixty-foitrth of a grain of strychnine. Death was consistent with stryelvine pois'.ming, but until an analysts was made it was made it wa» s impossible to say bow many pills, the child had taken. Tho inquest was .adjourned sin.© die.
