FAMOUS IN COACHING DAYS OLD LANDMARK GOES (Per Press Association),. • Christchurch, April 8. Fire destroyed tin* Hilltox> Hotel, an old landmark on Banks Peninsula, lasj evening. Virtually nothing was saved. The hot el was a doubly storey wooden building and was built in IB.se. it was a popular stopping place in the old coaching days and was owned by Mr. J. 11. Bell. of Christchurch, and insured for 1 £OOO. Mr. M. Petty, the licensee, is a heavy loser. The Government telephone bureau was also destroyed.
