DOMINION SURVEY LOW AVERAGE RAINFALL (Per Press Association). Wellington, April 7. March was a very dry month in most parts of Now Zealand, according t<> the monthly report of the Government Meteorological Department. The average rainfall in the Dominion wa° about half the normal total for March, and in the North Island the average was considerably below 50 per cent. Temperatures were below tbe .March average for the North Island by between 2deg. and 3deg. F. Good falls of rain toward the end of tho month in most parts of Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay considerably relieved a situation, which was giving come concern. Rome heavy falls were recorded at Gisborne, where drought conditions had prevailed since the beginning of October.
