D UTY O F PR ESER VATI ON EINSTEIN OX THE POSITION (Aix. t. and N.Z. Cable) Rugby, Oct. 20. Professor Einstein, propounder of the theory of relativity, was the guest of honour at a London dinner over which Mr Bernard Shaw presided last night. Mr Shaw . described him as “a great man., great among great men,” who had not only raised wonderful, problems, but also had begun to solve them. Referring to the Jewish status. Professor Einstein said the situation of the Jewish communities throughout the world was the barometer of the moratl standard in the political workl. and to-day that .barometer stood very Low. But even this, depression confirmed him in the conviction that "the preservation and consolidation of the community was thteiir' duty. There had -been disappointnients in recent years, and even in recent days, hut he. advised his Bellow Jews not to bemoan the hardness of late, but to remember that they would not hav-e survived as a community through the centuries if they had had a bed of roses.
