NEW HEBRIDES MISSION
MR J. \Y. MANSFIELD RETIRES
The Foreign Missions Committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand recently entered the following- minute on the records: “On the retirement of Mr J. \Y. Mansfield, the committee expresses its appreciation of the services he has rendered the Church in its mission work in the New Hebrides.” Mr Mansfield has served the church during- two terms with devotion. The committee assures Mr Mansfield “that, although retired from active service in
the foreign field, he has the esteem of many friends *in the church throughout New Zealand, and their best wishes that in the eventide of life he may have continued joy in quiet service and fellowship with the
Master.” Mr Mansfield went to New Hebrides in 1892 as lay assistant to Dr. Lamb, at Ambrim, and worked at the hospital station at Dip Point until 1900, when he resigned. Front 1921 to 1924, while relieving the Rev. M. Frater at Paama, he gave some oversight to the teachers at Ambrim, and in the latter year was asked to take charge of the work there. He established a mission station at Wuro, Craig Cove. In 1927 the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Churc hof New Zealand appointed Mr Mansfield to the status of mis-
