FINED FOR ASSAULT
AN EX-CABINET MINISTER QUARREL OF POLITICIANS f Aust. Hurt N.Z. Cable) Received March 20, 2 p.m. Capetown, March iq. Senator Boydell was fined .£lO for assaulting- Mr Marwick, member for Ulpvy. Marwick had criticised Boydell as Minister of Labour in connection with the sugar settlement scheme in NatsL Boydell maintained that Marwick had impugned his personal honour. During the elections the two met at a meeting at Durban at which Boydell called Marwick a coward. Marwick then hit Boydell. They next met at the Empire Parliamentary Association’s meeting at the conclusion of which Boydell demanded an apology. This Marwick refused, whereupon Boydell hit him thrice, breaking three teeth and rendering Marwick unconscious.
