Created only to enhance the value of a story which deals in the contrast afforded by a bustled and hoyish figure age, the almost startling architectural and decorative styles set forth m this Metro-Goldwvn-Mayer’s first starring vehicle for Joan Crawford lend a note of modernism that is almost futuristic, with abrupt angles, sweeping curves, a central colour scheme of gold and silver enriched by solid black.
