AIONEY FOR PAVILION STATEMENT BY THE MAYOR
Cricketers were reminded by the Mayor last night that the Borough Council l|as set aside the sum ot £SOO towards tho cost of erecting a sfandi on Kowhai Park. Air Taylor said his money was part of the profits made by the municipal electricity department before it was sold t° the Power Board, and it was placed on fixed deposit by the Council. Kowhai Park was not a borough reserve, it was a domain, and the Crown held the title deed's. Be thought th^ Government should make a grant towards improvements for the Crown’s property, and added that the. cricketers might he expected to raise part of the sum required, and if this were done, the Borough Conn cil suhsidy would he available. Making his point for the Government subsidy, Air Taylor said Feilcling got not endowments from / tile Government. AYhile other boroughs— Taihape, Hawera, Palmerston North, 7 and other towns —had reserves from which they drew revenues, Feilding got nothing.
