INTERESTING HINT EFFECT OF FALL IN PRICES (Aust, and N.Z. Cabli^ London, March 10. At the Tariff Truce Conference in Geneva the Hon. William Graham, President of tli„ Board of Trade, while emphasising himself as a convinced freetrader, hinted that protection might yet b e adopted in freetrade countries like Great Britain. Commenting on the fact that serious fall in prices had greatly affected the interests of producers, Mr Graham said tlies e distressing conditions had revived and strengthened a desire for more protection wher e there was jirotection already, but had also created a st rung demand for productive legislative measures even in freetrude countries. If he believed us did many, that conditions might b e improved thereby he would recommend that course.
