PROTECTION OF FUNDS NEW ZEALAND LAW FAVOURED Tlie New South V ales Government is agajn being strongly urged to introduce legislation on tho lines of tlio New Zealand Fidelity Guarantee Act in order to protect both the public and the legal profession against tho “black sheep"’ in the law who defraud their clients. -V bill providing for tho compulsory audit of solicitors’ trust accounts was introduced in tlie Legislative Council of New South Wales early last year, but was withdrawn,.
Tho profession pins its faith to the latest New Zealand legislation, providing, as it does, for a law guarantee fund to which each solicitor contributes, in order to reimburse losses by defrauded clients after all other remedies against the dishonest legal praclitionei- have been exhausted.
