BURNED DOWN AT URENUI
MAILS AND FURNITURE SAVED (Per Press Association' New Plymouth. March 7. Eire destroyed tb ( . Post Office at l)renul late last night. The desperate efforts of a bucket brigade saved Howell’s boardinghouse next door, although tin- wall was scorched. The Post Office had four living rooms attached and all were destroyed. The mail matter and the mor e valuable fittings and most of the postmaster’s furniture was saved. The blaze originated in the store which was rapidly reduced to ashes. The fife leaped across the right-of-way aud soon the Post Office was burning fiercely. The store was insured for £250 aud the stock for £llOO. The postmaster (Mr, G. Loveridge) had his furniture insured for £250, but the greater part was saved.
