An ugly scene, occurred at the Domain yesterday following upon the arrest of Charles Reeves, organiser of tbo I.W.W. and other speakers. The crowd, numbering 5000 surged round the police and the captives and stones were thrown at the gates of the Mitchell Library.
Jostling by a section of the crowd became so serious that tbo police bail to form a barrier across the street. A mob followed the police to headquarters, but later was dispensed.
Tbo Daily Guardian announces that the Sunday Guardian lias acquired thot Sunday Nows and from next Sunday the two papers will be incorporated. The colliery owners have definitely decided to test tbo validity of the interm. award made by Judge Ih’cby last week. Two miners were arrested at Greta, for threatening to tar and feather a. policeman’s wife and for canvassing tlio shops to stop her food supplies.
The Australian Labour Party’s conference at Xamwortli passed resolutions calling on all sections- of the Labour movement to support the nonworking miners.
