At the Medical Congress, Dr Leary of Melbourne, addressing the sections of neurology and psychiatry, urged th at stammering, which wu« one of the tragedies of life, should receive attention early iu |he sulfercr’s life. English-speaking people were more prone to stammering than other nations. Tti> treatment should aim at, the removal of flic stammerer’s feelings of fear that he cannot express himself adequately. ,ll<tfixation and ease are the essential conditions of relief with the adoption of the principles of rhythmic speaking. The treatment should begin while the child is not yet aware of his ueculiarity.
