NORTH ISLAND HIGHWAYS
According to th e Wellington Automobile Club’s latest road report, most of the North Island highways am in good order, with the following exceptions WaiouniTokaanu.— Practically infpassable; chains required. Olmkune-Taumarunni-Te Kuiti.— Fair metal road; a few pot holes in places,, with-, gome had bends. To KnUi-llamilton-Pokono.— Rough surface generally. New Plymoutli-Te Kniti.—-Road to Mahoemil good. Mahoenui to Te Kuiti very rough; pot holes, AucklandHelensville - Dargaville.' —Good to Helensville (39 miles), but from Kaukap.akapa onwards for some distance the road is. bad and cars cannot get. through. . They .must.be railed from Helensville to Maungaiuroto, from which place to Dargaville tli e road is good. i - , The report describes the Napier-Wairoa-Gisborne and the NapierTaupo roads as very good.
