Mr E. E. Short lias been elected to the vacancy on the committee of the Foil cling Jockey Club. Mr A. R. Callander, TTorowhcmia county’s assistant engineer, has been selected from, among 10 applicants for I he position of clerk end engineer to the CTievoit County Conned, in Canterbury.

Mr E. C. Quecree, who was awarded a military scholarship from the Christchurch Boys’ High. School in 1927, has passed his final examination at the Sandhurst Royal Military College, England, and has received a commission in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Mr E. H. Lovett, of Bulls, on whom the honour of life membership was conferred the other day by the Kangitikei Racing Club, has a unique record in this respect, being a life member of no less than eight diffeient bodies: Palmerston A. and P. Society, Marton Jockey Club, Bangiiigei Racing Club, Eangitikci Rugby sub-Union, Bulls Football Club, Bulls Rifle Club, Rangitikci Polo Club and the Masonic Lodge.
