EROSION AT ARAPUNI
MEASURES PROVE EEEEOTIVE
PERMANENT WORKS' PLANNED The measures-taken by the Public .Works Department at Arapuni to cheek the erosion below the spillway have proved effective, according to a statement made by Mr T. Rabone, the officer in charge". Plans were being prepared for more permanent protective works, said Mr Rabone, and it might be necessary Lo divert the flow, through the diversion tunnel at the dam for a time while the work below the spill way was being completed. The course of action to be followed had not yet been fully decided. Owners of launches, boats and canoes on the Arapuni Lake had been requested by the Public W’orks Do partment to haul all craft clear of tlie water level- and to leave them secured.
