MANCHESTER STREET SCHOOL
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE
In the report for the month, presented to the committee last night, the headmaster of th'e Manchester street school stated that eight new pupils had been, enrolled that morning, making thg. total roll 478. The average attendance for the past throe months was 424.9.
Miss G. A. Neill, the additional assistant, had commenced duty on April 29. During the holidays Miss R. Henaghan, who had been relieving in Ali* Sharplin’s place, obtained a permanent position in the AVellington district, and her place on the school staff was taken by Aliss E. L. Marchant, who arrived that day. The committee considered the average attendance, 90,3 per cent., was not as good as it might he, and hoped some method could be devised of encouraging th<> children to make hotter attendances. It was decided to ask that the hot cocoa at lunch time for those children who take tbfeir lunches to school should be instituted at once. The members present at the meeting were Mr G. J. Fitzpatrick (chairman), Airs Fitzpatrick, Messrs Jas. Campbell (secretary), T. S. Goldsmith, E. P. Hosking, and R. B. Desmond. Apologies were received from Mrs Billman and Messrs Mc* Dowall and AA T . W. Andrews.
