FEILDING MUNICIPAL BAND
CONTEST MARCH “BROADACRE’’ At the Kowhai Park on Sunday afternoon at 2.30 the public will have the opportunity of witnessing the above Band, going through the marching contest as will he done at Wanganui on March, 2nd. This inarm, “Broadaere,” was written by Walter Step art, a. noted composer o: the Old Country, and is a thorough test for every player in the Fond. The whole performance, as will be done at Wanganui, will he gone through, the 'Band will be drawn up at a point for inspection; and from marching formation moved into inspection order and then marched to point A which is the start for the 100 yards, here playing commences at the word quick march. This 100 yards has to be done in .120 paces in GO seconds, and is called point B, at which the drum-major ,halts and the Band pases om about 15 yards, and on the blast of Me wbjfstle counter-marches and is again picked up by the'drum-major at point B, and proceeding to point A and again, performirjfg 1 a, counter-march 15 yards past.
Three yards from point A a right turn is done marching to point 0 50 yards, a igllt turn, t-h.e-n. to point D, 45 yards, : a right wheel, 'halt-at Dls yards. The Band continues playing the piece being a few yards from the judge’s test. It may be mentioned that judging takes place from the time the Band is drawn up for inspection till marching < fiat point E, and the same applies to Idle music.
