LYTTON STREET SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE BUSINESS LAST NIGHT The regular meeting of the Lytton. street school committee was held in Air Jas Penney’s office last night, Air Penney occupying the chair. Also present were ALesdames A. C. AfcCorkindale and A. E. Sandford, Messrs 11. Heald, H. Parsonage, T. Tv. Hay (secretary), and B. L. Mollroy (headmaster). Tlie headmaster's report was received as follows: The attendance, for the month, has suffered considerably through an epidemic of measles, between 40 and 50 children, being affected. The average for the month was 201 or 85.3 per cent ol the total !oil the present roll being 345. for the'week ended 2nd inst.. there was an average attendance of 2-». Hepairs are needed to the gate on Alon_ month street and to the garden plot, fence. The standards 5 and 6 room is found to lie more overcrowded than last. year. Me now bate 83 children in the one room, provided to accommodate 50, with two teachers. The committee considered the matter of overcrowding as a serious one. On the motion of Airs Sand ford it was decided to advise Air J. 0. Eliott Af.P., of the position with the request that additional accommodation lie pressed for. x AH Heald was appointed lo undertake the required gate and fence re-

pairs. Messrs Parsonage and Heald were appointed as a visiting committee for the month. At the invitation or the committee Mr G. J. Fitzpatrick, representing the Feilding Dental Clinic, was m attendance regarding the matter "1 the. Lytton. street school’s request for a direct representation in t,lie administration of the clinic. Afr Fitzpatrick explained the position that has obtained since Hie inauguration of the clinic. He considered that the -Lytton street school committee should now take over control for a
