A number of horses with engagements at the Takapuna summer meeting were galloped at Ellcrslie this morning on the course proper outside two trestles, the tan and The No. 2 grass being freely iiised.

"Princess Ronnie, who carried a light weight, ran seven furlongs- on tbo course proper in 1.29 3-s—an excellent gallop. Speechless and Baby Bun were associated in a similar' task, which they left behind in 1.32 1-5. At the finish Speechless; wag going the belter of the pair.

Piet and The Lover, on the course proper, registered 1.21 for six furlongs. Piet may not race at Takapuna on Saturday. Bombardier 'easily heat Palmares over five furlongs, from the- old post in I.G 2-5.

Cynthia X. went six furlongs with Storm Fiend in 1.19 4-5, and was going better than, her companion at the finish.

On the No. 2 track Yaqui recorded a useful effort in running six furlongs in 1.13, and doing it well.
