THEFT AND FORGERY
POSTAL OFFICER IN TROUBLE
Hikapaunamu Parata, an official in the employ ot the Post, Office, wa> charged at the Feikling Police Court this morning before. Alessrs J. W. B ram well and Jas. Penney. J’s.P., on two counts (1) that on or about October 20 last, at Holcombe, be did steal a postal packet the property of the Postmaster-General for New Zealand, and (2) that on or about October 21 last at Feikling he did make a false document, knowing it to be false, by forging the endorsement* “Rosa Turner” to a cheque ‘for £ll 14s 8d drawn on the Union Bank of Australia, and did act upon it as if it werte genuine by uttering the same to Albert Joseph Tluxnpnreys. Parata., was formally charged, when Sergeant Cahill, for the prosecution, asked for a remand until 2 p.m. lomor row to allow an opportunity roi the calling of witnesses. The application was granted, bail being asked for nnjl granted in one surety of £2OO or two of £IOO each and self for £IOO
