SIX WAGONS DERAILED

SCHOOLBOYS ESCAPE EXPRESS TRAIN HELD UP SENSATION OX RAILWAY. WAGONS IN A Gt'LT.Y. (For Press Association) Dunedin, June 20. The afternoon goods train irooi Oainaru was derailed on Saturday between Miliiwata and Port Chalmers, on one of the many curves. An empty wagon near the engine left the rails, dragging,some others, with the result that the couplings broke and six wagons rolled down into the gully. The engine and tender, however, remained on the line, also the hack portion of the train, which included one carriage with the Anderson, Bay school football team on hoard. The through express train from Christchurch, timed to arrive at 4.18 was held up for four hours at Purakanui- while the line was being cleared, and therefore did not pull out from Dunedin for Invercargill till 9.1 n p.m. The cause of the derailment is unknown. A departmental inquiry is to lie held this week. »
