Two bodies have noit ypt been ire'oo voted. The avalanche descended from the Valluga Mountain, and was 1 ©uglily half a mile Jong and 20 to 25ft wide. Two parties of English and German skiers were about a third of a mile apart when the, 7 >watellers in the ’ alley saw the wall of snow descending upon them, the. jFa.ll- being caused by a warm south' wind. The skiers were, nearing she summit of Vallugay 60p0 feet in height, when the first avalanche swept them off their feet, and, a second, 800 yards long and,so yards wide immediately engulfed . both groups, some to a depth of 30 feet. The noise of---the- falling racks, stones, snow, and ice terified the inhabitants’ for miles /ground. One of tb© rescuers says h© first saw a ski worn by the ,-Englishwoman prolv.ding from the snow and pulled her out, suffering from concussion. Nearby the arm: of tliCi German was also visible, and he was rescued. Afters that it was only by guesswork that they could locate the others. .
