Premier Coates i s expected to return to Wellington about the beginning of next week. The death occurred yesterday at Blenheim of M r George Parsons, jit settler in Marlborough of some 56 years’ standing. ? Mr L. F. Henry, of the Most wron Supreme Court staff, ha<? been, transferred to the Magistrate’s, Court at Mar ton. / The death is announced of Mr E. T. Hart, who was schoolmaster of the Beresford ' Street School, Amokland, from 1892 to 1915, at the age of 75 years. Mr Peter Harder, of Westport, died yesterday, aged 83. He was an old and respected West Coaster, who crossed Arthur’s Pass about 60 years ago. Mr J. T. Williams, formerly of Feikling, who had been postmaster at Masterfon for the last 18 month , has retired on superannuation to reside in Auckland.

Writing on November 26, a London correspondent says: Mr T. M. Wilford was in London f°r a short -time yesterday. His friends will be glad to hear that he has considerably benefited by the voyage.

Mr Huntly J. If’ Eliott, of the Neiv Zealand Shipping completed 42 yenr s of service with the company on Saturday. He joined the staff in Wellington oft January 2, 1884, immediately after leaving Wellington College. He is a brother of Mr Gordon Elliott, M.P. Mr E. G. Sutherland, the brilliant New Zealand athlete, who left for South Africa following the visit of the Springbok athletic team, has gone to Scotland. Mr Sutherland, who is an old Palmerston hoy, represented New Zealand in athletics prior to liis departure for South Africa, which country lie also represented at the Olympic games.
