BATTLE FOR “ASHES"
PROSPECTS OF ENGLAND, MR WARNER OPTIMISTIC. (Aust. and N.Z. Cable). London, December 27. Writing in the Sunday Express Mr 'Pelham Warner says English cricket is going to do well in 192 G. “Above all,” he says, “we are going to win’ back the “ashes” in the coming tests. We have the best batsman in the world in Hobbs, and the est bowler in the world in Tale, We have' a team of really first class cricketers who ought'to ‘best’ the Australians.” Sir Warne r thinks four days should be allowed for the tests. Drawn games are unsatisfactory. England has been beaten by the Australians so often that it is of paramount importance that she win this year.
