Ravages of Bunchy Top disease in the banana plantations in the 1 weed river district, on the north coast of New South Wales, previously a laigo exporting centre, have been so disastrous that the local Fruitgrowers’ Association, which handled the trade, is no longer required, and has been disbanded.
A movement is on foot in Sydney to re-establish the banana trade with Fiji A shipping firm lias offered to provide satiable steamer accommodation, if sufficient inducement is ottered.
