Tt is freely rumoured that Sir James Parr will not he a candidate at the forthcoming general election.

The many friends of Mr J. 0. Hatehelnr, who. the other day met with a serious accident, will bo pleased to learn that/ he has made a decided improvement.

The iate Mr Isaac Hopkins, of Auckland, late Apiarian to the partment of Agriculture, bequeathed an amount estimated at about £2OOO to the Cawthron - Institute, Nelson, for the purposes of bee culture and research.

younger brother of Air F. AY. Arbon, of Pohangina, who came to New Zealand about 30 years ago. -He was married to the eldest daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs Roekstrow, of Palmerston.
