ENTRIES FOR COMPETITIONS*

The entries for the Feikliug Farmers’ Union root crop competition so far received by the secretary, (Mr Jas Pciiifc-y, and which close at the Union’s office next Monday', are not so good' as those of last year, hut there is no doubt that the compete tin will be.as successful when alirreturns have been completed. The variety of crops includes soft turnips, swedes, mangefc and carrots for which valuable prizes have been offered to be won by the most successful growers. (

For most points in the mangel competition, a 25 guinea cup hab been presented by Sutton’s Ltd. The Farmers’ Distributing Co. has given a enp valued at 12 guineas for most points in mangels and swedes, ami Messrs -Hoddor and . Trophies have also been given by Wd branch, five 3-guinea gold medals having been allocated for racist points for combined crops in the five districts competing, one medal to each district.
