THEY WORRY JACK HOBBS. ;■ i Criticism of a (assies. . (By Electric Cable —Copyright) (Aust. and N.Z Cabie Association) (Received May 2, 9.15 a.m.) London, Alny 1. Jack Hobbs, in his second newspaper article on tbo Australian tour claims that the English batsmen maintained the classic style more successfully than the Australians. •‘We were repeatedly astonished to .see Australia’s batsmen connecting when playing playing with a cross hat at a log spin ball. AYe l Englishmen would have got right on to the pitch of the hall with a straight bat, in the orthodox fashion. The Australians seemed able to judge how the ball was coming. Probably alter years’ experience in Australia we might be able to hit for four many balls which wont unpunished. ,r Hobbs is convinced that the unorthodox Australians will make a sorry moss of things on the English wickets, unless they alter their tactics. They may be able to alter their style, bub only diligent practiea 4 will work the oracle. He considers that Taylor and Bardsley are the best, of the Australian batsmen.
