WHERE BABY GETS HIS REALTY.

The most remarkable baby in the world was born a week ago. Since tuo event many people have worried themselves to distraction in seeking the origin of his beauty and of his disposition. Baby's- parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends-to-be are all wrangling over his little body. His feminine relations are more particularly to blame. Perhaps it is because their imaginations are especially quickened. However, many equally strong dissimilarities have already been traced.

With my unseeing masculine eyes 1 cannot detect a resemblance to anything on earth in the comical collection of little rosy knobs of flesh that make up Baby's face. All I can sec is an absurd blob of a nose, a resounding pink cavity instead of a mouth, and immense wondering eyes as yet without any lashes. As a conscientious uncle bow can I possibly assign definite likenesses ? There is his nose, for instance. It has, not yet developed a shape. Rut one of his aunts affirms confidently thafc Baby has his father's note. Another aunt admires it as a nose, but hesitates to declare a likeness. Lather is' equally pleased and proud either way!

Baby's mouth is unquestionably his most useful feature. It is also his best from the aesthetic point of view. His eyes are alleged to resemble those of his aunt, who is not quite sure whether or not to feel flattered. It is rather difficult to judge of eyes that have no lashes-that are just wonderfully and inexpressibly blue! Everybody seems proud of Baby's hands. The fingers, it seems, are long and well shaped. What a thiug to say about a. hand that, together with its arm, is no bigger than my middle finger! His hair, which, to .make the most of if, is not conspicuous at present, is the subject of many eulogies. Ju the last week it has been described as auburn, chestnut, silky, crinkly and Byronesquel It is a legacy from' his grandfather. And most of these "family likenesses" will have to be readjusted. No doubt his; teeth and speaking voice when they arrive, will be argued about just as fiercely. If they are not up to the standard which his beauty has set so- far, T have no doubt they will be. .said to resemble mine!
