A HERO'S SAD END

FAMOUS CASE RECALLED

HUSBAND'S NOBLE SACRIFICE

(By Electric Cable— Copyright.) (Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association). London, Aug. 10.

A famous case is recalled by the death from a revolver wound in Sheffield Barracks of Cecil Aylmer Cameron. Cameron in. 1011 was sentenced at Edinburgh to three year's for defrauding Lloyds Insurance Company by claiming £6OOO compensation for the loss of his wife's pearl necklace.

Cameron refused to give evidence and served the sentence. On re lease he joined the army in France and showed wonderful gallantry. In 1017 the King granted Cameron a lull pardon and restored his rank. After his release from prison a petition, asking a retrial was signed by live dukes, 20 Privy Councillors, and 120 generals. It transpired, that Cameron acted innocently, his wife, when dangerously ill, confessing that she alone was gniltv. Cameron maintained silence to protect her.
