EASTER SATURDAY
I'ALMEUSTON SHOPS TO KEEP OPEN A meeting of business men coming; under the, retailers' award —the soft goods, footwear, fancy and leather goods, hardware, crockery, hooks and furniture and furnishing trades —<was held in I'a.lmetvton this week to discuss the question of whether or not Easter Saturday should he observed. After a lengthy discussion, the meeting voted evenly. The chairman (Mr J. Wallace.) .said he would give his casting vote in favour of the procedure followed in the past—that of keeping open on the Saturday. The employees' organisation, it was stated, has advised that it approved of the proposed .substitutioi of two half-days for Paster Saturday. It has yet to he acquainted of the half days ,sel»";ted at the meeting.
