Mr Algar said it had been suggested by some North Island delegates that if the South Island was made to include the whole of the island instead of merely Canterbury, Otago, Southland and Westland, they would bo prepared to concede five scats instead of four to the South. He therefore altered liis amendment to meet this view. ) The amendment” was lost o 4 n the voices, and Mr Moss’s motion, giving the representation of the North Island 11 and the South Island four, was carried. The election of North Island members of the Provisional Board resulted as follows: North Auckland, Messrs Grounds (Hokianga); South Auckland. Goodfellow (New Zealand Dairy Co.), Wells (Cambridge), Stanton (Kaikotu); Bay of Plenty, McMillan (Tauranga): Taranaki, Morton (president of the. New Zea-, land Dairy Association), J. R. Corrigan (Hawera), ~ and Forsyth (Eltliam); Hawke’s Bay, Cook (Heretaunga); Wellington, ‘ Moss (Carterton), Hanson (Awahuri). It was resolved that the chairman should be a commercial man appointed by the Government after recommendation by other directors.
